Our story: Reauthored Motherhood
I spent years looking like the mother who had it all together. Strong. Capable. Confident. The one who never showed weakness, never asked for help, never let the worry slip through the cracks. But behind closed doors, I was a mother lost and alone. I carried the weight of doing everything “right,” terrified that any mistake meant I was failing my children. I looked like a pro on the outside, but inside I felt like I was disappointing the very people I loved most. My nights often ended in the shower, tears mixing with the water as I whispered prayers for God to help me, guide me, and show me the way. And then came the moment that changed everything, the moment God met me in my deepest trenches. My two‑year‑old was burned 2nd degree on her face and third degree on her arm, and in the shock and fear of that day, something inside me broke open. Not in a destructive way, but in a holy way. A way that revealed truth I had been too exhausted and too afraid to see:
I did not have to be perfect. God is.
I did not have to be whole and unbroken. God is.
And through Him, I could love my children the way He intended not from a place of performance, but from a place of grace.
That moment didn’t make me a perfect mother. It made me a re-authored one.
Slowly, gently, God rewrote my motherhood. He rewrote my identity. He rewrote the pressure I carried. He rewrote the lies I believed about myself. He rewrote the fear that I wasn’t enough. I became a better mother, not flawless, not superhuman but the mother my children needed. And the wife my husband needed too. A mother anchored in peace, guided by faith, and confident in the story God was writing through me. Reauthored Motherhood was born from that transformation. It exists for every woman who looks strong on the outside but feels overwhelmed on the inside. For every mother who cries in secret. For every woman who believes she must be perfect to be good. For every heart longing to be rewritten by grace. This is a place where mothers reclaim peace, identity, and confidence. Not by striving harder, but by letting God reauthor their story.
Maria A. Zickefoose, M.S.
I’m Maria, a mother of nine incredible children—ages 20, 18, 16, 14, 13, 10, 8, 3, and 1. With 21 years of motherhood experience, I’ve lived through every season: babies, toddlers, teens, and now young adults finding their way in the world. I’ve walked through the trenches of motherhood more times than I can count, and each chapter has shaped the woman I am today.
I became a mother young, and I learned how to grow up while raising children. I went to college with babies on my hip, homework spread across the kitchen table, and a heart determined to build a better future. Recently, I earned my Master’s degree in Psychology from Tiffin University, a milestone that reflects both my passion for understanding the human heart and my commitment to helping mothers find peace, identity, and confidence.
My motherhood journey has not been simple or smooth. I’ve walked through divorce, and I’ve experienced the beauty of redemption in marrying the love of my life, Josh, who has become a steady, loving father figure in our home. I’m also a stepmom, navigating blended family dynamics with grace, patience, and humility.
I’ve faced nearly every challenge motherhood can bring:
- Premature baby
- High Risk Pregnancy
- breastfeeding struggles
- tongue ties
- ADHD diagnoses
- children with mental health needs
- trauma
- co-parenting
- Healing after broken seasons
- rebuilding a family with faith at the center
I’ve lived the overwhelm, the exhaustion, the fear of not being enough, and I’ve lived the redemption, the healing, and the peace that comes from letting God rewrite your story.
Today, I use my lived experience, my education, and my faith to help other mothers find the peace they’ve been craving. I believe motherhood is not about perfection; it’s about grace, growth, and letting God meet you in the trenches.
This is my heart. This is my calling. This is Reauthored Motherhood.
Let God reauthor your story
You don't have to carry the burden of perfection alone.
We believe in the power of grace to transform your motherhood journey.
